Accessible Online Ordering for Everyone

Boom is committed to building ordering experiences that work for all users, including those using assistive technologies.

Our Standard

Boom targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all customer-facing ordering pages. We also follow ADA Title III guidelines as they apply to digital properties used by places of public accommodation.

What We've Built

  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements — menu items, modifiers, cart controls, checkout fields — are reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
  • Screen reader support: ARIA labels and roles are applied to all interactive elements. Form fields have programmatic labels. Order status updates are announced via live regions.
  • Color contrast: Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). We do not rely on color alone to convey information.
  • Focus indicators: Keyboard focus is always visible. We do not suppress the browser focus outline.
  • Image alt text: All menu item images include descriptive alt text configurable by restaurant owners.
  • No time-limited sessions: Checkout sessions do not expire without warning.
  • Mobile accessibility: Ordering pages work with iOS VoiceOver and Android TalkBack.

Known Limitations

We are continuously working to improve accessibility. Some third-party payment components (Stripe Elements) operate under Stripe's accessibility implementation. We do not control these components but Stripe maintains WCAG 2.1 AA compliance for their embedded components.
